The 22 winning projects of the European year of people with disabilities
Here are the 22 winning projects of the European year of people with disabilities.
The Organization of national coordination chose them among more than 1600
projects of public and private authorities, administrations and associations.
A Commission of evaluation made up of experts, representatives of association,
Regions, Provinces and Comuni chose them. They will be provided financial
support for 50% from the UE Commission, for 40% from the State and for 10%
from themselves for the amount of 1 million and € 600.000.
While selecting them, the Commission gave priority to the initiatives to
raise awareness and to diffuse new technologies and “good practice”
about mobility, accessibility and integration, socialization and continuing
education and to interventions for people with serious disabilities and
their families. The Commission also gave importance to every kind of relationship
between public or social private authorities together with other Member
States and of organizations supporting people with disabilities and their
families with funds of less than € 100.000.
As suggested by the Commission, the Presidency of the Organization of national
coordination gave particular relevance to some innovative projects that
want to guarantee the rights of citizenship of people with disabilities,
their economical and social integration, their autonomy and independence.
1. Associazione A.PO.DI. - Massa (Toscana)
Mare insieme - Report (Italiano)
Raising awareness of public authorities and population in order to get
the nautical licence for people with disabilities, through sailing and
living at the seaside. The overcoming of architectural barriers and the
integration among people on board gives the possibility to do sport useful
from the psychophysical point of view.
2. Associazione Comunità – Lamezia
Terme (Calabria)
Progetto Sud: al di là dei girasoli - - Report (Italiano)
Promoting the participation of people with disabilities to the local communities
through meetings, seminars, cultural events, recreational activities that
can diffuse good practice on mobility, accessibility, integration, socialization
and continuing education. There will be a meeting with the most important
associations of people with disabilities and their families about “after
us”.
3. Associazione Tigullio est anffas –
Chiavari (Liguria)
Tetro disabili itinerante - - Report (Italiano)
There will be the musical comedy of “I moschettieri del re”,
performed by young people with intellective disabilities. Its aim is to
improve their introspective abilities and their dexterities and to raise
awareness of public opinion through a new awareness of people with disabilities’
abilities.

in Rieti to make people aware of collectable rights and to spread good

Campaign to raise awareness of employers and the public opinion about
people with disabilities’ working abilities in order to reduce early
retirements because of physical or mental disabilities and to promote
reintegration and the development of human resources.
6. Confindustria – Roma (Lazio)
Progetto Sole. Soluzioni operative per la libertà e l’emancipazione

There will be a travelling exhibition on a train and seminars and meetings
in the cities where the train stops. The topics will concern strategies
to overcome disability and new technologies as a support to reach a better
quality of life. The basic concept is to pass from adaptability to integration
of people with disabilities in all htmlects of their life.

The project addresses to junior secondary school students and to their
teachers and it wants to raise their awareness on uncommon problems through
teamwork and simulating by creating a new conscience of the broken rights
of people with disabilities.
8. Associazione Progresso Ciechi - Borgo Valsugana

Spread of a shot collecting some episodes of blind people, who could integrate
in society thanks to technologies and a favourable familiar context. The
aim is to modify the stereotype of blindness in people’s mind, by
enlightening all the opportunities of participation in family, work and
school context for blind people.
9. Comune Gestione Qualita' ed Ambiente –
Jesolo (Veneto)

The aim of the project is the study of “Stessi giochi Stessi Sorrisi”,
that provides for solutions to ensure the accessibility, the use of the
areas of entertainment and of the playing structures for children or attendants
with disabilities. This study promotes the integration of people with
disabilities and refuses the creation of special playing areas for them.

The project wants to raise awareness and to spread good practice on three
specific htmlects: support to families with people with disabilities and
promotion of interventions on “after us”; access to communication
and information and to primary and secondary prevention; accessibility
and mobility for an independent life.
11. Associazione Paratetraplegici - Terni (Umbria)
Il Forum Civico per un Parco Naturale ed accogliente. Un'esperienza
di programmazione concertata nel territorio del Parco Nazionale dei Monti
Sibillini.
The projects wants to guarantee the use of the area of Parco Nazionale
of Monti Sibellini for people living in the Park and visitors with a reduced
mobility and those with sensorial problems or with special needs. In order
to reach this aim there will be a strong collaboration among Local Administrations,
Park, voluntary service Associations and all the other people working
to the Strategy of an available Tourism.
12. Comune: Assessorato Affari Sociali - Napoli
(Campania)

The project is within the program for the European year of people with
disabilities, arranged by Comune of Naples in collaboration with the Associations
of people with disabilities. Basically there is a change from a medical
concept to a social approach to disability, involving not the single person
but all the society. In this way, the specific aim is to spread a new
image of disability in Naples.
13. Provincia Di Varese - Varese (Lombardia)

The project wants to realize a desk/ portal to allow the access to services
for people with disabilities living in the area chosen by the project.
There will be also a final event organized with the Ministry of Labour
and Social Affairs and with an initiative of community level. The project
promotes, develops relationships among all the people working in that
area for people with disabilities.
14. Sic Cooperativa Sociale – Bologna
(Emilia Romagna)
Multimediahand – Disabili in network per la crescita di una societa'

The project intends to create a network of people with disabilities, with
the aim to raise awareness of public opinion and of institutions about
their problems. This will be done in collaboration with STREAM TV that
will spread out the European culture of accessibility.
15. Cooperazione e Solidarieta' - Consorzio

Percorsi di sensibilizzazione, coinvolgimento ed informazione sui temi

The project wants to create a campaign to raise awareness and to inform
about disability through: a) the spreading of a DVD in all schools of
the Region, in Comuni and families; b) the realization of a competition
involving nursery, primary and secondary schools; c) the realization of
spot and of two brochures for families and enterprises; d) a final event.
16. Provincia Torino – (Piemonte)

The project wants to raise awareness and to spread the culture of integration,
by using television, radios, local newspapers, Internet sites and other
kind of media, as supports of symbolic events and of sounding board for
intermediate and final events. It follows the slogan “Nothing of
us, without us”.
17. Regione Abruzzo - L'aquila (Abruzzo)

The project aims to raise awareness and to propagate good practices about
interventions for people with serious disabilities and their families
through the spreading of information on services for social integration
and on the possibilities that people with disabilities have thanks to
the new technologies. It wants also to promote occasions for comparisons
with institutions.
18. U.I.C. - Catania (Sicilia)

The project wants the society to change her attitude towards disability,
by spreading a positive image about it. It promotes also the rights for
children and young people for school equality.
19. Unidown - Genova (Liguria)
Giornata nazionale della persona con sindrome di down 12 ottobre 2003

The projects aims to realize a National Day of people with Down’s
syndrome to analyse the needs and the services for people with this kind
of disability. On 12th October 2003 there will be an occasion to raise
awareness of society in Italian squares, in schools and in universities
in order to involve young volunteers in the activities of this association.
20. A.I.A.S. - Savona (Liguria)

The project aims to spread sport and in particular aquatic sports among
people with disabilities. It proposes a voyage on a Polynesian Canoe with
six seats and some athletes with disabilities.
21. Provincia - Ascoli Piceno (Marche)
Via libera. Campagna di informazione e sensibilizzazione per il rispetto
del codice della strada a salvaguardia del diritto di libera circolazione
dei disabili. - - Report (Italiano)
The project aims to remove urban architectural barriers also by raising
awareness of drivers and motorcyclists in order to respect the rules of
the road. They want to defend the right to move in cities for people with
motor and sensorial disability. It addresses to a great number of people
that will increase according to the number of old people with limited
mobility.

Roma (Lazio)

The project aims to defend the rights of children and young people with
disabilities. In particular, it wants to raise awareness and to make people
think about the Convention of the Child and about its four fundamental
values: no discrimination, more interest towards the child, right to life,
to survive and to develop, more respect to the child’s opinion.
